Bernhard Serexhe

Nasceu em França, em 1950. Estudou sociologia, psicologia, ciências da educação e história da arte, e possui doutoramento em História da Arte pela Universidade de Freiburg (DE). Publicou extensivamente sobre arquitetura, património, arte e teoria de novos media. Desde 1995, é consultor em política de novos media para o Conselho da Europa. Entre 1994-1997 foi curador do Museu de Novos Media do ZKM | Karlsruhe (DE), 1998-2005 chefiou o ZKM | Departamento de Educação, e desde 2006 passou a ser curador-chefe do ZKM | Museu da Mídia. Ocupou cargos docentes em diversas instituições: Academia Russa de Belas Artes de São Petersburgo (1999), Universidade de Berna (2000-2001, 2008), Universidade de Basileia (2001, CH), Universidade de Artes e Design de Karlsruhe (2001), Universidade de Karlsruhe (2002-2006) e Academia Estatal de Arte e Design de Estugarda (2011, DE). Entre 2008-12 foi professor de Teoria de Estética e Mídia na Universidade BILGI de Istambul (TR). De 2010 a 2012 foi iniciador e líder do projeto de pesquisa «conservação de arte digital» financiado pela UE. Desde 2016, é curador independente e especialista certificado em arte eletrónica e digital; realiza exposições internacionais em itinerância, consultoria para instituições internacionais de arte e expertise na preservação da arte da media digital.

He has published extensively on architecture and heritage history, art and media theory. Since 1995 he is a consultant on media policy to the Council of Europe. 1994–1997 he was curator of the Media Museum of the ZKM | Karlsruhe (DE), 1998–2005 he headed the ZKM | Education Department, and since 2006 he is chief curator of the ZKM | Media Museum. He has held teaching positions at the Russian Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Petersburg (1999), the University of Bern (2000–2001, 2008, CH), the University of Basel (2001, CH), the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe (2001), the University of Karlsruhe (2002–2006), and the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design (2011, DE). 2008–2012 he was Professor for Aesthetics and Media Theory at the Istanbul BILGI University (TR). 2010–2012 he was initiator and leader of the EU-funded research project »digital art conservation”. Since 2016, he is an independent curator and certified expert for electronic and digital art; holds ongoing international exhibitions, consulting for international art institutions, and expertise on the preservation of digital media art.
